Executive Management Team

Michael Clark – Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director

Michael ClarkMichael Clark is Chief Executive Officer for QIB (UK).

Michael has over 30 years’ banking experience, having held senior management roles for over 20 years. From 1999 to 2006 he was the Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking at Arab Bank where his role focused on Business Development. Prior to this he held a number of senior management positions at Yamaichi Bank (UK) including the post of General Manager.

He is a member of the Asset and Liability and Risk Management Committees and chairs the Executive Committee at QIB (UK).

Michael holds a BSc. (Hons) degree in Banking and Finance, an ACIB professional qualification, an MBA in Finance from City University London and the Islamic Finance Qualification.

Azhar Khan – Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director

Azhar Khan Azhar Khan is Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for QIB (UK).

Azhar has worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years. Azhar was previously with Islamic Bank of Britain as Director of Financial Operations where he was a key member of the senior management team. He has also held senior management positions at Charles Schwab Europe and Barclays Private Bank.

He is a member of the Executive, Asset and Liability, IT Steering and New Product Committees at QIB (UK).

Azhar is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has a first-class degree in Operations Management and also holds the Islamic Finance Qualification.

Grant Lowe – Head of Risk and Compliance

Grant LoweGrant Lowe is Head of Risk and Compliance for QIB (UK).

He has 24 years' banking experience. Before joining QIB (UK), Grant worked most recently for European Islamic Investment Bank where he helped the company to become FSA approved. Grant has also held management positions at Bank of America, Citibank and South African Reserve Bank.

He is a member of the Executive Management, IT Steering and ALCO Committees and chairs the Risk Management and New Product Committees at QIB (UK).

Grant is a Certified Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), and also holds the Islamic Finance Qualification. Grant reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Michael Clark, but also reports to the Board and to the Audit Committee as appropriate.
